What Hydroquinone is used for:
Hydroquinone is used topically to lighten areas of the skin that have become darker (hyperpigmentation) due to freckles, melasma (brown patches on the skin), acne scars or age spots.
Do not use Hydroquinone:
If you’re allergic to the active substance or any other component of this medicine.
Warnings and precautions:
- Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before using this medicine.
- Tell your doctor if you have a sulfite allergy.
- It is important to use sunscreen while being treated with Hydroquinone. It can affect the efficacy of this medicine.
- Test on a small areas of your skin before using on larger areas.
- Hydroquinone may produce a gradual blue-black darkening of the skin. If this occurs, stop using it and talk to your doctor.
Possible side effects:
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
